Monk & Martyr is a space for people who are curious about Jesus. Those who are tired of religious performance. Who are still hungry for something real. Not polished. Not pretend. The kind of faith that can survive real life. The kind that keeps walking even when you feel dry, distracted, or discouraged. If you have ever felt like you are late to the party, behind everyone else, or disqualified because you do not “have it all together,” you are in the right place.
I am not writing from a seminary classroom. I do not have a stack of degrees or a list of credentials to wave around. My “training” has been conversion, repentance, prayer, and the slow learning that happens when you try to live the Gospel in ordinary life. I have met Jesus in different seasons, and some of those seasons were loud and joyful, while others were quiet, gritty, and humbling. This site comes from that place. From walking with the Lord when it feels easy, and when it feels like you are crawling.
The name Monk & Martyr points me somewhere. It keeps me facing the right direction.
I’m drawn to the contemplative, the simple, the ancient, the disciplined. I’m also drawn to the honest struggle of carrying a cross in modern life. Where distraction is constant, and comfort gets sold like it can save you.
Here you’ll feel Orthodox, Anglican, and Catholic depth in the background, paired with a hunger for raw, direct, Scripture-soaked discussions.
And expect the one steady message that you are loved more than you will ever know. Not the cleaned-up version of you. Not the future version of you. You, right now. Jesus’ grace is bigger than you can ever imagine. No season you are in is too dark for His light to reach.
Welcome to the site!
Daniel Wilson
